However, for employment or longer-term visas, the application process goes through the Indian High Commission in Singapore. For an employment visa, you must have a valid employment contract with an Indian or India-based business. If you aspire to establish a business in India, the business visa is the right choice.

The Indian housing market offers less competition compared to Singapore but larger cities do see some rivalry for accommodations. Fortunately, the cost of housing in India is significantly more affordable. Apartments are the most prevalent housing option in India, though you have a variety of choices including bungalows, housing complexes, farmhouses and villas to fit various budgets.

India’s official currency is the rupee (INR), under the governance of the Reserve Bank of India. As of the latest data, 1 Singaporean Dollar equals approximately 57.70 Indian Rupees.

Residing in India for more than 182 days qualifies you as a tax resident, mandating income tax payment. Luckily, a tax treaty agreement between Singapore and India prevents double taxation.
